TITLE: Transportation Planner
SALARY RANGE: Dependent on education, experience or a combination of both
The Southwest Louisiana Regional Planning Commission is seeking a collaborative, analytical and motivated transportation planning professional for the Lake Charles Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the Southwest Louisiana Rural Planning Organization (RPO). This position offers the opportunity to help implement adopted transportation plans, priorities, investments and mobility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and advance implementation of the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan
- Monitor and advance implementation of the 2027-2030 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)
- Analyze demographic, transportation, safety, and financial data.
- Monitor and support Travel Demand Modeling efforts.
- Monitor and manage traffic count programs and transportation data collection.
- Collaborate on development of Designated Arterial Corridor Plans and stakeholder engagement process.
- Collaborate on Short-Term and Long-Term transportation planning and development of Regional Transportation Plans with local governments.
- Facilitate preparation of transportation project implementation tools and pilot programs for evaluation.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Urban and/or Regional Planning, Transportation Planning, or related field.
- Strong analytical, communication and project management skills.
- Ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Experience with transportation planning, data analysis, visualization tools and collaborative project work.
